How we're paid
Shanghai Connect is an independent information and referral service. We are not a medical provider. If you book a consultation or procedure with our partner clinic after being referred by us, we may receive a commission from the clinic. This never increases the price you pay, and we tell you about it up front because you deserve to know how we make money.
What that means in practice
- We are not a clinic. Shanghai Connect does not provide medical care, employ doctors, or perform procedures. We publish information and connect visitors with a partner plastic-surgery group in Shanghai.
- Commissions come from the clinic, not from you. If you book after being referred by us, the clinic may pay us a referral fee. Your price is the clinic's standard price — being referred through us never adds to it.
- The incentive is real, so we manage it. A referral service earns nothing when it tells you not to proceed — which is exactly why our guides include the contraindication list, the low-price traps, and the cases where the honest answer is "don't operate." The decision to proceed always sits with you and the examining physician.
- No pressure mechanics. We don't use countdown timers, fake discounts, or invented scarcity. If you feel pressured at any point, tell us — that's a problem we want to know about.
Questions about any of this? Ask us directly — we answer disclosure questions like any other.
